Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring (Rosfinmonitoring) has issued a stark warning to cryptocurrency users, asserting that digital asset exchanges operating within the country routinely comply with law enforcement requests for transaction data. Olga Tisen, head of the agency’s legal department, dismissed the notion of crypto anonymity as "a myth" during remarks at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

Despite Russia’s lack of comprehensive crypto regulations, Tisen revealed that platforms voluntarily disclose wallet owner information when approached by authorities. This disclosure occurs even without formal legal frameworks compelling cooperation, suggesting an established practice of surveillance over digital asset flows.

The announcement underscores growing institutional scrutiny of cryptocurrency transactions worldwide. While not naming specific exchanges, the statement implies broad compliance from platforms servicing Russian users, potentially affecting traders across major cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, and XRP.
